Exclusively for Jacob Jürgensen timber products, a 5000 m² warehouse was inaugurated on Tuesday 9.1.2018 in the Ostuferhafen in Kiel. The new shed no. 12 was built within six months with an investment volume of 1.5 million euros.

Rolf von Loßberg, Managing Director of Jacob Jürgensen Wood GmbH, and dr. Dirk Claus, Managing Director of Seehafen Kiel GmbH & Co. KG, accomplished the inauguration with a symbolic gesture on one of our larch packages. Thus, the way is clear for a safe and dry storage of our upcoming shiploads of Siberian larch from Russia.

For the new shed, Jacob Jürgensen Wood has signed a long-term lease with the Port of Kiel. “We have been working together with the Port of Kiel for several decades and we are looking forward to this further deepening of the cooperation,” said Rolf von Loßberg. “We value highly the service that the Port of Kiel is able to offer us. Smooth processing and flexible support are just two reasons why, at the present, we strongly favor Kiel as a Baltic seaport”, he added.

The smooth cooperation between the Jacob Jürgensen employees in Hamburg and the logistics provider in Kiel guarantees that our wood is handled, stored and delivered to our customers every day with the utmost precision. “With shed no. 12, we are meeting a growing demand, boosting productivity and further increasing quality,” notes Dirk Claus from the Port of Kiel. The location of the new hall, directly at the mooring of the Russian ferries in the Ostuferhafen, is ideal for fast transport and dry storing of weather-sensitive forest products under roof.

We were pleased that numerous guests and media representatives followed the invitation to the inauguration. The bright, sunny January day provided an ideal setting for the festivities, hot drinks and soup relieved against the Nordic cold. “We look forward to filling the shed 12 with life and wood and are already looking forward to our next steps in expanding our cooperation with the Port of Kiel,” concludes Rolf von Loßberg.
