The company challenge B2Run provides an unique team running experience in seventeen German cities. On May 23rd a number of Jacob Jürgensen colleagues joined the 7,900 participants from around 360 companies at this cheery running event in Hamburg.

This year, on a perfect summer day, a slightly smaller team was standing on the start line. The running track went through the beautiful Volkspark with a following unforgettable finish at Volksparkstadion. It was once again a great fun for all team members, they all reached the finish line successfully and without any injuries.

An active summer leave for the kids in Arkhangelsk

One of our long-standing main suppliers, Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill (APPM), is again sponsoring a summer camp for children and their escorts in the Arkhangelsk region, Russia.

In total, APPM is financing the stay of 291 persons for a period of 18 days in a nearby holiday camp. In addition to games and a lot of sports, there is also medical care for children who have a need of it.

We are happy to welcome two new colleagues

Since the beginning of April, Ms. Natalia Jung has been strengthening our JJ Wood Team Bedding as well as supporting the import activities of our Team Larch. In mid-March, Mr. Christopher Schwarick started as a sales assistant in the India department at JJ Paper and Pulp.

Ms. Jung was born in Kazakhstan. She has been living in Germany for many years and speaks therefore besides her native Russian fluently German. She graduated with a degree in engineering in Tomsk, Russia and then completed a further education in business administration in Germany. Ms. Jung has several years of professional experience as a trade assistant, especially exporting to CIS countries.

Delipac, the “Holy Grail of recycling”

Delipac is the eco-friendly and zero plastic solution for food packaging and PE free cup stock. The material is fully compostable, biodegradable and recyclable in any paper waste stream. On top no mineral oil is used for production.

Already in 2017, the Jury of Europack Challenge called Delipac the “Holy Grail of recycling”. This year Delipac is nominated for the shortlist of the Global Good Awards in the group “Best Eco Product(s)”. The jury will decide on May 16th.

Delipac product development has not only cup stock in focus, but also cartons for frozen and ovenable food as well as for fresh food are in progress. The product portfolio is growing constantly – thus more environmentally friendly packaging solutionswill follow.

We offer a lot – now also glued laminated timber

As an extension to the product range, Jacob Jürgensen Wood is promoting since a few months’ time glued laminated timber (glulam) made out of spruce. Together with our Russian suppliers we provide our customers all over Europe with all common dimensions and the lengths 12 and 13.5 meters.

In order to be able to serve the customers with prompt deliveries, we have since January 2018 glulam beams in the most conventional dimensions in our stock. Furthermore, since 2018 we are also able to offer glulam made out of Siberian larch.

Jacob Jürgensen is committed to an environmentally friendly, socially beneficial and economically viable forestry. As a result of a FSCTM or PEFCTM Chain of Custody certification, the path of the wood from the forest to the consumer can be traced throughout the entire production chain.

Jacob Jürgensen Wood GmbH passed the annual FSCTM / PEFCTM audit in February 2018. Jacob Jürgensen Papier und Zellstoff GmbH also passed its FSCTM / PEFCTM audit at the end of 2017 and a new audit is just around the corner.

Inauguration of a new warehouse for Siberian Larch in Kiel

Exclusively for Jacob Jürgensen timber products, a 5000 m² warehouse was inaugurated on Tuesday 9.1.2018 in the Ostuferhafen in Kiel. The new shed no. 12 was built within six months with an investment volume of 1.5 million euros.

Rolf von Loßberg, Managing Director of Jacob Jürgensen Wood GmbH, and dr. Dirk Claus, Managing Director of Seehafen Kiel GmbH & Co. KG, accomplished the inauguration with a symbolic gesture on one of our larch packages. Thus, the way is clear for a safe and dry storage of our upcoming shiploads of Siberian larch from Russia.

The tests confirm: you get a good sleep with our edge-glued panels

We spend a large part of our lives in bed. When choosing the right bed, it is not only important how you lay in it and how the bed looks like. There is a growing interest in the question the furniture being also good for the indoor air and allergy-friendly.

Our customer, a large Scandinavian bed manufacturer, had been looking for a new solution for the bed frame for their successful bed model. Together with our Finnish supplier of wood components, we developed a new frame made of edge-glued panel of Nordic spruce.

One condition for the cooperation was that the new construction has no negative effect on the indoor air. For this we had our wood components tested in an independent laboratory.
